In this unusual feature-length documentary, award-winning director John Maher goes deep inside dreams and comes out the other side covered in sweat, grit and glory. On the surface, Throw It Down is the story of the Bluecoats, an elite drum corps, and its grueling, 80-day road trip across America leading to the finals of an international competition.
But it is really about the surreal journey that passionate young people take when they commit everything they’ve got to a purpose. It’s emotional, painful, funny and soaring in the celebration of the human spirit. In the end, this powerful film, shot in brilliant high definition and with a stirring soundtrack, challenges us to ask, What price will we pay to make our dreams come true?
88 minutes, color.
